Seriously! I felt like an explorer.

Welcome to my blog post devoted to music this time. This is what everyone likes to do, be it skinny or fat, tall or short. Each of us likes to listen to her. A certain number of people like disco polo and some like Arabic indie rock. However, I did not invite you here to debate who likes, we are on this page to meet My Favorites. The selection of performers was difficult because I would like to describe many more of them. However, ten is enough to start with.

Numero Uno!

Yes. Here is Bob Marley. As a child, I listened to Budka Suflera a lot, especially the number "Bal all Saints". However, it was only in junior high school that a breakthrough in my taste for music took place. I wore tracksuits at the time and my favorites were hip hop and rap. However, I was slowly drawn to rock sounds, and reggae is the first step in that direction. It can be said that this genre is a bit of a bridge between one world and another. In the 2nd grade of middle school I had the opportunity to go to the USA, Florida, for 2 weeks to my parents' friends, and in the meantime I got acquainted with performers such as Shaggy, Lenny Kravitz, Beenie Man, Sean Paul, and finally with Bob from the photo above. We all know his songs and we regret that he is no longer with us in this world. In my room in my family home, paintings with his image are still hanging. His music influenced my life to such an extent that at the turn of middle school and high school I wanted to make dreadlocks and I would grow long hair for this purpose

Numero duo!

Moving on from chile and pleasant notes, lance and balance, beware of what follows. After moving into high school and meeting new people, mates, styles and a new life, I also got to know new, darker music and style than Bob was. I do not remember the circumstances of this incident, we are talking about something that happened 10 years ago, but a closer friend called Rudy introduced me to the world of heavier sounds.

As i Lay Dying!

One of the first metal bands I met, creating music from the style of trash metal, metalcore and Christian metal. Along with learning similar sounds, my style of dressing and being also changed. I gave up making dreadlocks, for my 18th birthday I bought boots that I de facto have to this day. Sometimes they are useful as shoes for exceptional frost. At the age of 16, I also had my first contact with alcohol and cigarettes, I wore a leather jacket. Other bands I met during this period include: Lamb of God, Trivium, Caliban, Slayer, Metallica, Anthrax, Amon Amarth and many more. I even had the opportunity to attend a Behemoth concert once, but the music created by Nergal seemed too dark for my taste and I resisted the influence of the devil.

Numero tre!

My musical love number 1, the band that I love and the music I listen to still the most in the world above all else. Here is Tool.

Right after graduating from high school, my friend and I went to England to work. Packing cupcakes on the conveyor belt for £ 6 an hour was my first job, but that's not what I wanted to say. What my friend showed me was Tool, he himself listened to him a lot. At first I was skeptical about these strange sounds, I didn't understand the lyrics, somehow I didn't feel that this was it. A week later I knew most of the songs and listened to it so often that my friend got bored of listening to the band. Tool introduced a change to my musical life, I realized that you can also listen to heavier music with power but in a pleasant way, and not like in the previous period, that the ears were withered. In 2019, I managed to see a concert that took place for the first time in over 13 years in Poland, in Krakow. When they played songs that I had listened to with such fascination for so many years, tears fell from my eyes, as if I were cutting an onion. But this is not the end, the singer surprised the world with something more than just a concert tour. A new album was released, which gathered a lot of positive opinions in the music world. The band plays in the style of progressive metal and borderlike rock, it's hard to say what genre this music belongs to and I think that the musicians themselves do not know it. Other bands similar to Tool that caught my attention during my stay in England were:

  • A Perfect Circle, whose vocalist is the same man as Tool, Manyard James Keenan, for a short time I treated this band as my second love;

  • Puscifer, the same vocalist like Tool;

  • Deftones,

  • Porcupine Tree,

  • Rishloo;

  • Riverside;

Numero quattro!

"Dark were my dreams," said Theoden, one of the heroes of the Lord of the Rings trilogy The music that I listened to earlier was a bit dark, but what followed it radically changed the face of my taste. After returning from England, I decided to jump into the abyss, ending my temporary attachment to the dark side of the force, and being still in touch with my friend named Rudy, I entered the world of something new and interesting with his help for the second time. Here is Mig.

Disco Polo, this is it. Many of my colleagues say that this genre cannot be listened to under normal circumstances, except when intoxicated. And in fact, the period when I drank the most vodka (now I don't drink at all, by the way), so the beginning of my first studies, was also the time when I had the most to do with Disco Polo. I have absolutely no idea who the people in the picture above are, I have never explored any biography of any performer of this music. I don't think anyone did it :) The times when I was just listening to Mig I remember well. It was then that I learned to drink like a human, with and without a bagel, with and without a cucumber, with and without a lens. In a way, I was influenced at that time by the father of the above-mentioned friend, Rudy. If it weren't for his school, I wouldn't have acquired the necessary life skills and knowledge. Disco Polo music often accompanied these meetings. Other famous artists that I met during this period are: Famous Brothers Figo Fagot, Zenek Martyniuk, Weekend, Justyna and Piotr as well as Cliver and Tomasz Niecik.

This time not a performer, but a music compilation on one album. While rummaging in my parents' music, I accidentally stumbled upon the cover of the above album. The picture caught my eye because of the colorful colors and the title:

"An Arabic Musical Odyssey".

The real genius is the one who put all these songs together. I strongly encourage you to listen to the album on YouTube or in my company. The brilliant artist from the above album is Ali Hassan Kuban, you can listen to him on the Spotify app. Wading into the scorching Arabian sand, I reached further and, among the recommended, similar and phenomenal tracks on YT, I found a whole range of fantastic compositions.

Here are some of them:

  • Bonga - mona ki ngi xica (Synapson remix)

  • Sahalé - Djiin (Original Mix)

  • ELEA feat. Bahramji - Flying Carpet

  • Hasmik Harutyunyan - Erzeroum (Sahalé Edit)

  • The Spy From Cairo - Nafas

Numero sei!

We are slowly approaching the end of these colorful descriptions. In the meantime, when I was studying in Rzeszów, the bachelor's degree took me 4 years to complete for various reasons, with more interest than before I started following Polish rock groups artists. Naturally, despite meeting different musicians at different times in their lives, I also got to know others, but on purpose I do not mention them for two reasons;

  • First, if I wanted to list all of them, I would be here until next year trying to describe them;

  • Secondly, I try, step by step, to present the trends and creators who make me what I am today.

When I was in the third year of my bachelor's degree, so at the end of the normal course of education, I got an offer to go to the music festival in Cieszanów for the first time. I've heard about it before, most of you have probably been there too, but somehow I didn't really motivate myself to go there. Who knows and who knows what to do there and what not to do. The music played there is mostly repeated from year to year cult Polish rock bands.

One of the bands is Organek.

We all know the cult Polish bands I'm talking about. Kult, Kazik, Strachy na lachy, Pidżama Porno, Happysad, Coma, Lipali, Lao Che, Kabanos, KSU and similar. Polish one-year-old classes as the saying goes. But it was Organek that I heard for the first time. I had the opportunity to hear him again later at the Opener Festival in Gdynia, but it took me too long to get ready for the concert and I didn't make it :(. This particular music is what I like to listen to the most (apart from Tool and something else of course). One of the songs by Strachy is my signature karaoke song.

Best tracks:

  • Mississippi w Ogniu

  • Wiosna

  • Ultimo

  • Get it Right

  • Czarna Madonna

  • Son of a Gun

Numero sette!

Now it's time to travel back in time to the future, past and present .....

My second musical love, the woman of the first choice in my life, to whom I cry, pray, sigh and I will not say any more because this content is not allowed for people under 18 years of age.

Florence and the Machine

When I was a teenage boy, I used to go to Labs a lot in high school. However, that was before I even used to drink alcohol, so the place I used to go to was an empik salon close to the school. I used to sit there on stools that you can find in bookstores and read various books that I could not afford, and which interested me. And every time I walked in and out of the store, a song would play.

[Intro]

Regrets collect like old friends

Here to relive your darkest moments

I can see no way, I can see no way

And all of the ghouls come out to play

And every demon wants his pound of flesh

But I like to keep some things to myself

I like to keep my issues drawn

It's always darkest before the dawn

[1 wers]

And I've been a fool and I've been blind

I can never leave the past behind

I can see no way, I can see no way

I'm always dragging that horse around

All of his questions, such a mournful sound

Tonight I'm gonna bury that horse in the ground

'Cause I like to keep my issues drawn

But it's always darkest before the dawn

[horus]

Shake it out, shake it out

Shake it out, shake it out, oh whoa

Shake it out, shake it out

Shake it out, shake it out, oh whoa

And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back

So shake him off, oh-whoa

[2 wers]

And I am done with my graceless heart

So tonight I'm gonna cut it out and then restart

'Cause I like to keep my issues drawn

It's always darkest before the dawn

[horus]

Shake it out, shake it out

Shake it out, shake it out, oh whoa

Shake it out, shake it out

Shake it out, shake it out, oh whoa

And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back

So shake him off, oh whoa (Shake him off)

[Bridge]

And it's hard to dance

With a devil on your back (Shake him off)

And given half the chance

Would I take any of it back? (Shake him off)

It's a fine romance

But it's left me so undone (Shake him off)

(Shake him off) It's always darkest before the dawn

Oh whoa

Oh whoa

[Breakdown]

And I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't

So here's to drinks in the dark at the end of my rope

And I'm ready to suffer and I'm ready to hope

It's a shot in the dark aimed right at my throat

'Cause looking for heaven, found the devil in me (Oh woah)

Looking for heaven, found the devil in me (Oh woah)

But, what the hell, I'm gonna let it happen to me, yeah

[horus]

Shake it out, shake it out

Shake it out, shake it out, oh whoa

Shake it out, shake it out

Shake it out, shake it out, oh whoa

And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back

So shake him off, oh whoa

Shake it out, shake it out

Shake it out, shake it out, oh whoa

Shake it out, shake it out

Shake it out, shake it out, oh whoa

And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back

So shake him off, oh whoa

[Outro]

(What the hell...) Oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-woah-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-woah-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-woah-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-woah-oh

Shake it Out, Florence and the Machine z płyty Ceremonials

At that time, I had no idea who was singing it, and I had no guts to approach assistant at the cash register to ask what's going on. At some point, I stopped coming to this empik because I read all the books that interested me. And thus the possible knowledge to gain about who sings was lost.

By the time!

In 2018, I met someone who listened to Florence a lot. Pleasant music, which I remember as a teenager, I liked even more and then I was fully aware of what and how I started to get to know and torture all the songs. In June 2018, Flo also played a concert at the National Stadium in Warsaw, but I didn't know her well enough then to go buy a ticket and take part in the event. But soon thereafter, information appeared that the concert would take place a year later in Łódź. I got two tickets which didn't cost much at all and went to a concert with my cousin which I must honestly admit was awesome (a concert in a sense). My cousin is also great by the way. The way she grabs the crowd and charms the people who listen to her are truly magical experiences. It might seem that she behaves a bit like a small and innocent girl, yet she is an adult and mature woman. This is an art and a true ability to catch the crowd. Wonder. Thanks to the fact that I heard it so much, I met many other similar and great artists, my refined and sophisticated taste in music and pickiness in choosing my own music developed even more. Other great performers that I have met thanks to Flo include:

  • Lykke Li, which concert I also attended in 2018, she is known for her hit - I follow rivers

  • London Grammar

  • Lorde

  • Sufjan Stevens,

  • Kate Nash

Tracks i love by Flo

  • Cosmic Love

  • Light of Love

  • Shake it Out

  • Jenny of Oldstones ( Game of Throne soundtrack )

  • Ship to Wreck

  • Delilah

  • Mother

  • Hiding

  • Leave my body

  • Bedroom Hymns

  • Rabbit Heart ( Raise it up )

  • Blinding

  • Heavy in your arms

  • Howl

  • I'm Not Calling You a Liar

Numero otto!

I must admit that I wrote a bit about Florence, but seriously, whoever listens to her knows, she is special;) Since I mentioned the woman of my life in music, it would be wise to mention this ex as well: D There have been two over the years apart from Florence.

INNA

Actually Elena Alexandra Apostoleanu - is a Romanian singer of dance, eurodance and Pop music. My fascination with her fell on the years of studying in Rzeszów, especially during the 1st and 2nd year. The songs that I sometimes come back to are:

  • Cola Song

  • Hot

  • Sun Goes Up

  • In Your Eyes

  • Caliente

  • Inndia

  • Club Rocker

  • 10 minutes

Ariana Grande

Like above, Grande also sings POP music. There was a situation when I was listening to her music that I made a move towards her to get to know each other better. And I must admit that my message did not go unanswered because I was noticed by her on Instagram. However, it ended there, it is very possible that we were not destined to each other. ( joke )

Best tracks

  • Side to Side - z Nicki Minaj

  • Dangerous Woman

  • Problem - z Iggy Azalea

  • Into You

  • Focus

  • Break Free

  • God is a Woman

  • 7 Rings

Numero nove!

And now we will come back from a journey in time and space into the present, which is the moment when I ended my life in Rzeszów and moved to Warsaw for my master's degree. As Czesław Niemien sang:

Mam tak samo jak ty

Miasto moje a w nim

Najpiękniejszy mój świat

Najpiękniejsze dni

Zostawiłem tam kolorowe sny

Kiedyś zatrzymam czas

I na skrzydłach jak ptak,

Będę leciał co sił

(.........)

Fragment of the piece, Dream about Warsaw

I chose the city mainly because of my own origin (dad was born and raised in Marki) and a large number of friends who also moved to this metropolis. It irritates me a lot when I hear that living here I am a jar. This is not true, I have never transported food from my family home. What's more, in my understanding, the jar is a person who comes to another city mainly to study and had no connection with this particular place before, and I lived here while I was a child, right after coming from Germany. Meeting new people at the excellent Polish university, University of Warsaw and my own specialization in International Relations, once again in my life I came across various musical abstractions, and one of them is Maksim Dark.

He's a techno guy. I came across him when I was in contact with one of the first people I met in the group at university, my colleague Adrian. I have never focused on this genre before, even though I happened to go to clubs with friends during my first studies. Maksim started my exploration in this direction, I went through Owl Vision, Andre Winter, Hidden Empire or Toolbox.

Best tracks

  • Attack Disco

  • Energize

  • Dark Voltage

  • Movement

  • Coordinate

  • Continent - Ricky Ebner

Numero dieci!

And we chose the last, tenth artist, performer or musician who intrigued me with his work. My life in Warsaw continues and I have not yet met a new musical love that would take third place after Tool and Florence and the Machine. I could mention Budka Suflera, which I really like to listen to, or Beata Kozidrak, Bajm and many other similar Polish artists. However, there is a genre to which I am very attached, and I have not mentioned it among all the different and strange and normal creations above. It's classical music. At the end of this post, I will focus on a few artists in this field because I cannot decide which one is more important to me. As a 7-year-old I played the piano in a music school and that's probably why some of that attachment remained in me.

10 (a)

Hans Zimmer

Films and music he created

  • Gladiator

10 (b)

Ólafur Arnalds

You don't know him by appearance, and the music is 100% unheard of. He is an Icelandic multi-instrumentalist and music producer. My special devotion to his work is made up of the album re; member released in 2018, which I came across while watching my friend's friend in the Spotify application.

10 (c)

Hania Rani

She is a young Polish pianist and composer. I'm sure you probably haven't heard of her either.

That's all.

Thanks for reading and see you in other posts.
